"Luke, I Am Your Father!"

Here are the intergalactic invaders! Jacob has decided to be Darth Vader from "Tar Whores" (it's how Ben pronounces it). Ben is the red Power Ranger, complete with a blue light saber.

Marty's Aunt Jane had a little Halloween party this past Monday. The kids bobbed for apples and doughtnuts, and even played BINGO. Ben won a little screw driver set. Yes. The door hinges have been unscrewed by yours truly.

Mom and Dad in Malaysia

hi guys
It's been over a week since I have written to ya'll and I can't remember what I've shared with you.  If I repeat things, just ignore it. Each day gets better for us.  Last Tuesday we went to a birthday party of one of our members.  She had just moved to a new home and also wanted Pres. Ling to bless her home.  It was a first time for him, so your Dad helped him.  We had a good time.  They canceled all the church meetings to go to the party!
Wednesday was even better.  We went on a trip to see Mt. Kinabalu.  Kate booked a small tour for us and we went.  I wore pants for the first time since arriving here.  We spent the whole day with our little group--a young couple from Wales, Miss Woo from China, and Dr. Lahiri from India.  Fun group.  The Wales couple were on a 6month trip to Europe and Asia.  Miss Woo, a beautician from China, spoke little English but was so sweet.  On all of our hiking she insisted on holding my hand to help me.  Dr. Lahiri was so nice and wants to keep in touch with us.
On Thurs. we had another great experience.  We went to a open-air market with our neighbors, Johnny and Debbie.  She's Vietnamese and he is Malay.  We went to Pennampang, which is like going from Charlotte to Harrisburg.  We resisted buying the live eels, turtles, frogs, grubworms, and other delicacies!  We stuck to the fresh vegetables.  Ging, they have okra and call it ladyfingers.  Johnny treated us to breakfast and guess what it's just like lunch and dinner--noodles, rice, veggies, and soup.
On Friday, we went to the bank, met Kate downtown for a few minutes to pay her for our tour(she's a travel agent), and met the Panais at their hotel for a meeting.  He's a rotarian who helps with our projects.  Lovely couple.
We invited the elders and sisters over for spaghetti dinner.  What a trial to fix that dinner.  Hamburger meat here is difficult to find.  I found some patties and used that--it was like processed meat.  The elders loved it,  E. Leavitt ate three helpings.  I love having people over here, since Dad and I live and work in this apartment.
Sat. we renewed our lease with our landlord.  He is a young barrister whose mum is British and whose Dad is Chinese.  He is so handsome and nice.  He and his family live in the building next to ours.  Sunday was our usual 51/2 hour day at church.  Dad and I taught the combined Priesthood/R.Soc class on how to "return and report".
Monday of this week was a FHE at David Chong's home.  It was a farewell for E. Leavitt.  He went home to Arizona on Tues. morning.  The whole branch went to the airport to say goodbye.  Later we went sowntown for weekly meeting with the misssionaries.  We stayed downtown all day!  Soooo tired.
We have spent all afternoon (Wed) with our boss from Hong Kong.  He and his wife are training us on humanitarian services.  We are spending the next 2 days in training also.
We are getting quite use to it here.  It's becoming almost natural to get up and start our routine for the day.  I so wish that we had a car to use.  We have one lined up that we can afford, but have found out that we cannot drive without an international license and cannot get one here!  We are applying for one thru AAA, and with Kim's help back home, we will get it.
We love you and love reading the family blog.     Mom and Dad

I Found It!

I found the picture icon.  Now I hope you see them.  The last picture is of Dad and our friend Kate.  I wanted you to see her.  She is a good friend.  One picture is of us when we arrived in Singapore with our new friends the Johnsons.  We were all exhausted.  Another picture is our little tour group.  The other is Johnny and Debbie.

Toothless Cuteness

Jacob finally lost his first TOP tooth. I thought for sure I would miss his baby grin. I do, but I LOVE his new toothless grin. He looks so darling.

He was super excited to have a visit from the Tooth Fairy. In fact, he went to bed on his own at 8:00 -- a rare occurrence.

Jacob had Fall recess last Thursday and Friday, which meant no school. He lost his tooth on Saturday. By Monday, he was more than excited to tell his class about losing his tooth. I guess they get to put their name on the "Tooth" board. I even made sure to do his hair (as much as a mom can "do" a son's hair) for the big day. Oh the things that make kids happy.

That's pretty much all that has happened on the Asay home front lately. Here are some cute pictures of the little darlings. Enjoy!

P.S. There's a "happy grin" picture of my angel Marty. Love that man!

Changes in NC

Well, here we are back in Concord and loving it.  Besides having our clothes and some toys, we have made a few tweaks to the house ( you all knew that was coming, but nothing too drastic).  We are enjoying the change in seasons.  Mia's school Fall Festival was a treat with games, face painting, sweets, and a tractor ride.  Larson's new obsession since moving back is tractors. Both he and Mia will race around pushing baby doll sized strollers; Mia's has a doll and Larson's carries a miniature John Deere tractor.   Baby Ford's first tooth is coming in and he is soooo close to crawling.  What a happy, beautiful, loving baby!  See the pics of the bright happy painted doors (Russell also built shelves in the garage).

To Infinity and Beyond!

Today we went to Disneyland to help Buzz kick the bad guys' butts.  We were a success!

Hey Y'all!

Hey everyone!  I hope you are are doing well.  Mom and Dad, I hope you enjoy this blog.  (great idea Jenny!)  The Olmsteads haven't been up to too much.  Matt continues to work, Molly loves preschool, and Jax is well, Jax.  Last week, the kids and I went with some other moms and their kids from our ward on a day trip inland to go apple picking at a huge orchard.  It was so fun!  The kids loved picking, eating, and playing with all of the apples.  We brought a picnic lunch, and the kids ran around and played with each other after.  Before leaving, we sampled and ended up buying a gallon of their fresh squeezed apple cider.  Oh. My. Goodness.  I loved that stuff.  Matt and I found ourselves not wanting to share it with the kids this past week.  Don't worry we did.  It was a long 2 hour drive up there, but a nice quiet 2 hour ride back.  The kids were worn out and slept the whole way.  I did take pictures, but with my friend's camera b/c I forgot mine.  As soon as she get back in town I will add those pictures to this blog as well as out family one.

We head out to Hawaii on Saturday, and can't wait.  I promise to take lots of pictures.  I'll get some of the cousins playing on the beach.  We're hanging out with Kath all day on Monday and Friday for sure.  I can't wait.  I try to get a picture of her pregnant belly in her swimsuit if she even has one yet.  Probably not.  Anyways, I'll include some pictures of the kids that we've taken the past few weeks.

Love you all!

First Time Blogger.....

I am so proud of myself right now. This is my first attempt at blogging.  I have come into the new computer age. The Weeks family is doing well. We spoke in our ward for the first time yesterday and it went quite well. We were going to have Cole get up and say something but he renigged at the last chance.  Colby and I had to take turns taking Izzy out of Sacrament while each of us spoke. She is really cute but naughty at church!

We are feeling more and more settled here in HI even though our place still needs some furniture and decor. I am not sure if I am going to furnish it though considering that we are only here for three years.  We have what we need and I like to idea of not having to clean additional stuff.

Like Jake, Cole is on a soccer team and the non-athleticism must not be just an Asay thing. Cole will randomly fall down in the field with no one around him and when he revs up to kick the ball or throw it in, the ball rarely travels over a foot or two. I hope that he will do better next year. It does not help that the other boys on his team are 5 or 6 years old.  They definitely surpass him in skill level.

I am excited to see Ging and Matt and family this weekend! Our first overnight guests....

Welcome to Larson Family International!

Okay sisters and brother. Here is our family blog to keep our diligent and humble parents up-to-date with all the current events in our busy lives.

Nothing much has happened lately in the Asay household. The only thing of real importance according to Jacob is that he lost his first TOP tooth. He has such a cute grin now. I need to take pictures so I can post them. DARLING!

Jacob wrapped up his first soccer season yesterday. Team Hornets did awesome! I've put together a party at Chuck E. Cheese for tomorrow evening. The boys are so excited for that. It was fun to watch Jacob get a little more athletic as the season progressed. Marty summed it up best: "some people are just born with the (athletic) gift; the others are born Asays!"

Well, enjoy the blog, sisters and brother. We can turn this blog into a hard-bound book upon their return from their mission. I'll be in charge of it. I'm excited. I love you and I love our eternal family!

By the way, if you all want to see other musings in the Asay family, check us out at www.asayblogspot.blogspot.com.
